Megan K. Young

"What I enjoy about bankruptcy law is navigating the competing interests of debtors and creditors to achieve equitable results. Bankruptcy law is constantly evolving and intersects with a variety of legal disciplines making it challenging and rewarding.”

With an impressive academic foundation focused on courtroom advocacy and bankruptcy law, complemented by behind-the-bench experience and insights, associate Megan Young is well-equipped for her work representing clients in commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and insolvency matters.

Megan's effectiveness at protecting and advancing the rights of individuals and businesses is grounded in her thorough legal research, persuasive written arguments, and skillful oral advocacy. While earning her law degree from The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, Megan served on the school's law review and was a member of its award-winning Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Team. In that latter role and in her studies, she immersed herself in the nuances and complexity of contested bankruptcy matters. She supplemented her classroom work with courtroom experience, serving as a judicial extern for the Honorable Michelle M. Harner of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland, where she conducted legal research, prepared legal memoranda for issues involving Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy, and assisted with the editing process for orders and opinions.

Beyond bankruptcy, Megan also gained valuable exposure to a wide range of trial and appellate matters as a law clerk for the Honorable Melanie M. Shaw of the Maryland Appellate Court. In that role, she drafted opinions in a variety of civil and criminal cases and closely watched the attorneys who appeared before the bench, learning how to craft arguments and respond to pointed questions from judges.

When working with clients, Megan makes clear communication a priority, always striving to ensure they understand the status and outlook of their case and always making herself available to answer any questions and address concerns.
